Which one do i select PRINCE2 or PMP?

When we start thinking to do some project management related course first question raises in our mind is whether to do PMP or PRINCE2. I hope the below information might help you till some extent.

There is a big difference between PMBOK (PMP) and PRINCE2. PMP is a prescriptive knowledge, while PRINCE2 is descriptive methodology. PMP will talk about HOW to do a project, whereas PRINCE2 talks about WHAT, WHEN, WHOM need to do a project.

These two standards are not competitors,We need both of them to be able to manage projects successfully. In PMBOK Guide 5th Edition it says " This standard is a guide rather than a specific methodology.Once can use different methodologies and tools (e.g. agile, waterfall, PRINCE2) to implement the project management framework." And there's a similar statement in the official PRINCE2 manual, which also mentions the PMBOK Guide.

Most of the time people will try to decide which one is better either PMP or PRINCE2. But, that's a wrong question. None of them replaces the other one.I would suggest you to learn both the methodologies then you will become a perfect project manager who will be able to deal any kind of projects with 99.9999% Success rate with less expenses and less defects.
